Ganesha festival celebrated in large scale all over India.
The concept of Ganesha visarjan itself is eco-friendly as it depicts Moksha and how everything eventually dissolves in nature. As per tradition, only clay idols of the lord should be worshiped and immersed in water.
Many societies in Whitefield and K R Puram celebrated Ganesha in green way. Here are some of them.

Below societies did a good job by getting clay idol without color ,did visarjan within society.But they used paper cup for water. Paper cups are not eco-friendly they have plastic liner inside and consumes so many resources in making. Alternative of plastic can't be paper as we are out of trees and other resources.
Reducing and Reusing is need of the time.
Many societies used one common water station with some reusable glasses and asked residents to get their own bottle or glass.

Below societies tried to celebrate in green way.
We must avoid colored idols as even vendor promises for natural colors they don't use.Even if its natural colors why to involve extra resources when clay Ganesha without color looks so authentic.Any idol goes beyond 3.5 ft means its non eco friendly too.Vendor fool us most if the time by using words 'Clay,eco- friendly,water color ;.
We must avoid disposables for any event .As our population is increasing so our celebrations and so amount of garbage is increasing. Time to think before we plan any celebration.

- Community promised to get clay idol without colors next year and will try to do visarjan within society.
- Few residents started steel cutlery bank in layout.- They wrapped turmeric and kumkum in newspaper small packets and gave as Tamboolam.
